NCURA Webinar: "NIH Fundamentals Workshop" Wednesday, August 9th , 2023, 1:00PM EST

The Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health (HSPH) Office of Research Administration (ORA) and the HMS Office of Research Administration (ORA) are partnering to offer a virtual NCURA webinar: NIH Fundamentals Workshop on Wednesday, August 9th, 2023, from 1:00PM to 4:30PM (EST).

This webinar will be hosted live, virtually by HSPH ORA and HMS ORA on the date and time listed above. After the session, a recording will be posted by the Office for Sponsored Programs (OSP) in the Harvard Training Portal (HTP). An OSP Blog will be posted when the recording is ready for viewing in HTP.

Course Description and Prerequisites per the NCURA Website:

The workshop provides a primary basis of understanding of applications to and awards from the National Institutes of Health (NIH). This workshop will give you the basics, walk you through the grants process, and give you an overview of key resources and websites you will need to be successful. The program is perfect for someone new to Research Administration, as well as for Research Administrators seeking to expand their knowledge of NIH. The curriculum provides an overview of the policies and procedures essential to preparing successful applications to and managing grant awards from the NIH.

  1. NIH overall structure, culture, and organization
  2. Developing and submitting NIH grant applications
  3. The peer review process
  4. Post-Award administration
  5. Tips and tricks
