August Training Opportunities

We wanted to take a moment to remind you about the upcoming training opportunities taking place in August. Please see below for session details and how to register.

REACH Foundations 101 application cycle open July 22nd – August 9th for the Fall 2019 cohort

Date: Applications are due Friday August 9th, 2019 (application cycle will be open Monday, July 16th)

Are you a current Harvard employee with up to 3 years' experience in research administration or a related field, and would you like to learn more about sponsored projects administration at Harvard? If so, you may want to apply for our Fall 2019 REACH Foundations 101 Program. The program is designed to help participants gain a comprehensive understanding of the administration of sponsored research projects at Harvard from proposal to closeout and to introduce key resources for the further development of participant knowledge and expertise.

The Fall 2019 REACH Foundations 101 Application cycle will open Monday July 22nd. If you're interested in applying, you can apply or take a look at our information about the application process hereon our website. Applications are due by Friday, August 9th. Justification and Supporting Documentation Webex Training

Date: Thursday, August 8th, 2019
Time: 1:00pm-2:00pm
Instructor: Christyne Anderson, Manager, Training & Compliance, Office for Sponsored Programs (OSP)
Description: This Webex is will focus on analyzing and identifying documentation that provides strong support for costs on sponsored awards. The Webex will review two aspects of providing proper support: the justification for costs and supporting documentation. Through sample comparison, participants will be able to answer; What makes a justification strong? What makes a weak justification? What support is needed to add value? What is appropriate documentation to support the justification?
Audience: Research administrators and anyone transacting on sponsored award.

Cost Transfer Level Two Trainings

Dates/Times/Locations: Monday, August 12th, 2019, 10:00am-11:00am, Longwood Medical Area, Landmark Center, 3rd Floor, Room 5
Thursday, August 15th, 2019, 10:00am-11:00am, Cambridge, Jefferson Laboratory (17 Oxford Street), Room 356
Instructor: Christyne Anderson, Manager, Training & Compliance, Office for Sponsored Programs (OSP)
Description: These Cost Transfer sessions will focus on the role of the Cost Transfer Authorized Approver. These classes will include a review of Harvard's Cost Transfer Policies and Procedures, the responsibilities of approvers, identifying requirements and best practices for approval, and cost transfer resources. Attendees will participate in group discussions and work through examples and case studies.
Audience: Anyone Responsible for review and approval of cost transfers.
Registration: Please register for these sessions through the Harvard Training Portal. Please note, space is limited, early registration is encouraged.
