Federal Public Access Policy Sessions
On December 31, 2025, the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP) memorandum on Ensuring Free, Immediate, and Equitable Access to Federally Funded Research [PDF] went into full effect. As a result, federally funded research, including publications and data, must be immediately available for the public to freely access and fully use.
Join Colleen Cressman, Librarian for Open Publishing in Harvard Library's Open Scholarship and Research Data Services, as she provides a general overview of Federal Public Access Policies and Harvard-based resources and services (see our Public Access Policy Guide), explores publisher responses to the new requirements, and introduces SPARC's policy lookup tool.
