The NIH has issued guidance regarding the preparation of Research Performance Progress Reports (RPPRs) and the reporting of effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on research projects.
With the release of the revised Grant Policy Statement in October 2019, NIH revised their definition of Other Support. The revised definition “…includes all resources made available to a researcher in support of and/or related to all of their research endeavors, regardless of whether or not they have monetary value and regardless of whether they are based at the institution the researcher identifies for the current grant.

NSF's Current and Pending Support Policy and FAQ - Free Live Webinar

Description: The National Science Foundation (NSF) is pleased to announce that it will be launching a 2022 NSF Policy Office Webinar Series, that will focus on specific topics of interest to the research community. This webinar will begin by covering NSF's Current and Pending Support policy and frequently asked questions. This virtual webinar will take place on January 31, 2022 at 2:00 pm EST. There is no cost to participate. 
NSF is encouraging attendees to submit questions ahead of time so that the speakers and panelists may tailor their remarks to answer the audience’s most pressing questions. Please submit your current and pending support questions when you register or email them here: grants_conference@nsf.gov. Feel free to check the NSF Policy Outreach website for the most up-to-date webinar information. You can view recordings from previous webinars and conferences on NSF's Resource Center or YouTube page.

Audits: Request and Documentation (University-wide)

Date/Time/Format: February 3rd, 2022 / 10:00am-11:15am / Live Virtual Webinar

Description: This session is for research administrators who would like to gain knowledge of audit requests and what actions are needed when you are audited. We will cover the work flow of audits, the types of audit requests one may receive as well as requested documentation to support costs. During this presentation, we will demonstrate differences in work flow and documentation requested between U.S. audits and International audits through examples. This will provide foundational knowledge and begin to advance participants understanding in how to approach an audit request.

Subrecipient Monitoring: Informational Session and a Review of Available Resources

Date/Time/Format: February 10th, 2022 / 9:30am- 11:00am / Live Virtual Training

Description:In this session we will provide an overview of subrecipient monitoring at Harvard. Topics to be included are:

  • University Subrecipient Monitoring Policy
  • GMAS navigation for organization assessments
  • Resources in the Toolkit
  • Quarterly Review Process

Intended Audience:This session is strongly recommended for all grants management staff responsible for reviewing subaward invoices/financial reports, processing subaward payments and reporting on subawards. The session will focus on the administrative aspects of subrecipient monitoring. This session is meant to be highly interactive, please bring any unique scenarios and questions to the session.
Pre-work: Please complete the online module Subrecipient Monitoring: An Overview prior to attending class.

Cost Transfer Level II Training

Date/Time/Format: February 17th, 2022 /10:00am- 11:30am / Live Virtual Training *(please note new date)

Description: This Cost Transfer session will focus on the role of the Cost Transfer Authorized Approver. The class will include a review of Harvard's Cost Transfer Policies and Procedures, the responsibilities of approvers, identifying requirements and best practices for approval, and cost transfer resources. Attendees will participate in group discussions and work through examples and case studies.

Audience: Anyone Responsible for review and approval of cost transfers.

Pre-Requisites: Review the Cost Transfer Policy, Complete the Intro to Cost Transfer online course (Required).
