Live Webinar - Audits: Request and Documentation (University-wide)

Description: This session is for research administrators who would like to gain knowledge of audit requests and what actions are needed when you are audited. We will cover the work flow of audits, the types of audit requests one may receive as well as requested documentation to support costs. During this presentation, we will demonstrate differences in work flow and documentation requested between U.S. audits and International audits through examples. This will provide foundational knowledge and begin to advance participants understanding in how to approach an audit request.

Description: This course was developed to help research administrators effectively apply cost principles to manage sponsored awards. In this session participants will:

  • Utilize internal financial systems (GMAS, HART) to confirm compliance to sponsor terms and internal policies
  • Take appropriate steps to review, analyze, and, in cases of non-compliance, move costs. 
  • Identify the differences between journals and cost transfers

Live webinar - Overview of Sponsored Programs Training

Description: The Sponsored Projects Overview is the foundation of the University Research Administration Training Team’s (URATT) course offerings.  This full day session, offered quarterly, involves facilitation and participants from across the University, covers basic information on Harvard research administration policies, procedures, the award lifecycle, regulatory compliance, and also provides resources and contacts for future use.
Audience: Staff members with less than one year of experience in research administration at Harvard or anyone who would like a review of or a University-wide perspective on sponsored projects.

Ethics and Accountability - Financial Management Course

Sponsored Cost Allocation Methodology Info Session

Date/Time/Format: December 16th, 2021 /10:00am- 11:00am / Virtual Training

Description: The Sponsored Cost Allocation Methodology guidance was developed to help administrators oversee and monitor sponsored funds. The Cost Allocation Methodology info session will focus on the following topics:

  • Allocation Methodology Criteria
  • Documentation requirements
  • Allocation Methodology Best Practices
  • Acceptable vs Unacceptable Methodology (examples)

This session aims to help participants establish fundamentals, and provide resources demonstrating common methodology and application examples. By offering these resources, we are deepening our collective knowledge base around cost allocation methodology, thereby benefitting administrative oversight of sponsored funds.
Please note: This training will show a previously recorded session that will be stopped periodically throughout to answer questions live.
