July 10th Webinar: National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine Release Report on Returning Individual Research Results to Participants

When is it appropriate to return individual research results to participants? What are the risks and benefits of the practice to research participants, the research enterprise, and society as a whole?

On Tuesday, July 10, 2018, 11am – 12:00pm ET, the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine will publicly release a new report on returning individual research results to participants. The report presents a comprehensive review of the current evidence on the benefits, harms, and costs of returning individual research results, while also considering the ethical, social, operational, and regulatory aspects of the practice. In addition to evidence-based findings, the report offers an approach to returning individual research results that considers the value to the participant, the risks and feasibility of return, and the quality of the research laboratory.
