##  Analyzing Cost Principles (University-Wide)

 **Date/Time/Format:** Wednesday**,** March 20th, 2024 /1:00pm- 3:00pm / Live Virtual Training

 **Description**: This course incorporates activities and case studies to help participants think through complex questions regarding allowability of costs on federal awards and how non-compliance with cost principles can lead to audit findings. We will also consider how internal controls plays a role in ensuring cost principles are applied when charging federal awards. Activities include budget analysis, allowability Q&amp;A, and an audit case study.

 Learning Objectives:

- Apply cost principles and knowledge of the regulatory framework and internal controls to ensure responsible spending
- Identify and interpret appropriate policies and guidelines to ensure expenditure compliance
- Anticipate problematic costs to prevent audit findings

 **Audience**: Research Administrators

##  Audits: Request and Documentation (University-wide)

 **Date/Time/Format:** Wednesday**,** April 24th, 2024 /1:00pm- 2:30pm / Live Virtual Training

 **Description:** In this session, you will gain knowledge of audit requests and what actions are needed when you are  
audited. We will cover the work flow of audits, the types of audit requests one  
may receive as well as requested documentation to support costs. This  
will provide foundational knowledge and begin to advance participants  
understanding in how to approach an audit request.

 **Learning Objectives:**

- Identify types of audits and requests
- Apply steps of the audit workflow to your position
- Summarize key strategies to help manage an audit
