Updated Cost Transfer Resources

A review of recent Cost Transfer requests has led to a clarification about the receipt of cost transfer requests received on day 90.  Under 90 day cost transfer requests must be received in the OSP Cost Transfer inbox by 4:30 PM on day 90 to be reviewed as an under 90 day cost transfer. The clarifying language is as follows: “Please note: This inbox is monitored during normal business hours (generally Monday-Friday from 9 AM – 4:30 PM). Updated Sponsored Travel Guidance and Resources (Effective 10/1/2019)

The following sponsored travel resources have been updated: 

  • Sponsored Travel Guidance and FAQs have been revised to reflect the updated definition of lowest economy class airfare: Harvard defines lowest economy class airfare (sometimes called coach, standard economy fare class or base airfare) to include a reserved seat, one personal item, one carry-on bag, and one checked bag.

New Federal Work Study on Sponsored Awards Policy

SALC EC and OPC have approved a University-wide policy that the institutional share of Federal Work Study (FWS) cannot be charged to federal funds and cannot be charged to federal cost sharing activities. Other Harvard funding, such as non-federal sponsored awards, non-sponsored gifts, unrestricted funds, or endowment funds, can be used for the institutional share of FWS if allowed by the terms of the fund.
